Remote-first

Our team is remote, and is distributed across the UK and Europe.

We’ve been remote for a few years because it fits in well with our values:

Remote also has its disadvantages. It can be easier to build a culture where everyone is in the office, face to face. This means we have to take extra effort to build a delightful place to work.

Asynchronous work

Working async means we can all work flexible hours. So you can do the daily school run, schedule a dentist appointment or walk the dog at the times that suit you.

<aside> 💡 How does this work practically? To keep the team in sync, we ask that if you’re out for over 2 hours within ‘typical’ work hours, to pop this in your calendar. Otherwise, you’re free to schedule your working hours as you please.

Meetings

Meetings can be helpful but are often badly managed and too frequent. They should only be scheduled on a Mondays, back to back, and as early in the working day as possible. This allows us to focus on deep work for the rest of the day.

We sort meetings into two camps: work meetings and social meetings. As a rule of thumb, these should rarely be combined. You should make sure that your audio and video setup is high fidelity, with minimum background noise. If you need a headset or a better camera, ask us!

Work meetings

Work meetings are pretty self-explanatory: they are where we jump on a call to discuss something related to the work we’re doing.
